WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is simply being in the present moment. Not thinking about the past or the future, what she said, what he might have thought, what might or might not become. It’s simply giving our brain and our overtaxed nervous system some time to not have to think – to just be, to just feel.

 

HOW DO I MEDITATE?

We believe there is no one-way to meditate, and that your practice might morph and evolve over time. The goal is to find a practice or style that works for you. So here are a few videos to get your started.

This is a short guided meditation by Noah Levine, founder of Against The Stream Buddhist Meditation Society. He provides basics instructions for how to physically meditate.  

Here Andy Puddicombe, co-founder of HeadSpace provides some direction on proper posture for a comfortable sitting meditation.

Despite the retro film/audio quality and hair cuts, this is a great introduction to walking meditation by Thich Nhat Hanh. Here he explains how to practice walking meditation through focusing on each step, making it a peaceful, happy step.

WHAT DOES MEDITATION FEEL LIKE?

Yeah, this is a tough one to answer, because it can be so different for each person. For some, they may not experience much if anything; it may take some time to truly quiet the mind. However, people often describe a sense of calm and clarity. For others, they feel a sense of sadness, perhaps old feelings of hurt, fear, loneliness or loss bubble to the surface.

We encourage you to read stories from the journal. They help to give you some idea of what to expect and remind you that you’re not alone in your practice and experience.

 

DO I NEED ANYTHING TO MEDITATE?

The simple answer is no, you need nothing. However, we are physical beings in the physical world and so many people like having items to view, hold or just suround themselves with to help ground them in their practice. For just this reason we created beautiful meditation kits to help get you started, available only in our shop.

We will provide a complete refund for all items able to be resold. For used or opened items that can’t be repackaged, we will provide store credit for the full amount.

For any damaged items, first off, we apologize, and we will replace them immediately.
